Congress wants to Ban Online Poker!

Watch an expert smack down the arguments that government can stop people from playing online poker. Watch his opponent stumble like a deer in headlights and babble on — only to cave and accept his defeat by the end of what surely will be his first and last TV appearance. (God I love watching old people talk about the internet.)

They are discussing one of many controversial bills designed to “control” the internet that has passed favorably out of a congressional subcommittee and may come up for a vote next week. This particular bill would attempt to ban certain types of online gaming — including online poker while at the same time making online bets placed on horse races legal. It is unclear if this is even possible or what the bill would ultimately mean for the internet.

THIS JUST OUT: Bush and company put through a bill to ban on-line poker along side some port security bill this weekend. The bill bans poker but legalizes betting on horses.
